Playgroup & Kindergarten (PG-K)

“PG-K Sekolah Bogor Raya provides a comprehensive early years program under IB-PYP. Our PG-K Program is dedicated for 2 – 6 years old where we focus on nurturing and developing early childhood students so they can become caring and active participants in their lifelong journey of learning ahead.

We highlight the personal growth of each and every early childhood student by focussing on social, physical, emotional and cultural needs in addition to academic skills. Through its inquiry-based learning and play-based approaches, the PYP challenges students to think for themselves and take responsibility for their learning as they explore local and global issues and opportunities in real-life contexts.

Our learning environments are rich and stimulating, as we integrate both the outdoors and the world to support children’s learning processes through amazing experiences. Our school has an incredible group of experienced educators including both local teachers and expatriate teachers to support learning experiences in the classroom.”

As an IB-PYP (International Baccalaureate – Primary Years Programme) school, we are consistently engaged in exposing students to new educational experiences and learning opportunities. Our learners are thus enabled and challenged to become creative, active, compassionate, and confident lifelong learners.

The PYP provides a set of attributes or values, called the IB learner profiles. They help students develop desirable character traits and behavior that not only leads the school towards international-mindedness and leadership, but also builds on SBR’s values (discipline, equality, self-awareness, integrity, respect, empathy, resilience) to equip our students to excel in a rapidly-changing world.

Primary Years Programme has grown and adapted over the years, also set a high standard for inquiry teaching around the world. Playgroup Kindergarten (PGK) Sekolah Bogor Raya is part of the PYP as early years programme facilitating 3 – 6 years old.

PG-K Sekolah Bogor Raya provides a comprehensive early years program under IB-PYP. Our PG-K Programs are designed for 2-6 year olds where we focus on developing early childhood students so they can become well balanced and caring individuals.

The most significant and distinctive feature of the IB Primary Years Programme is the six transdisciplinary themes, which are:

  • Who We Are
  • Where We Are in Place and Time
  • How We Express Ourselves
  • How We Organize Ourselves
  • How the World Works
  • Sharing the Planet
  • These themes cover issues that help us to make sense of the world.

Through its inquiry-based learning and play-based approaches, the PYP challenges students to think for themselves and take responsibility for their learning as they explore local and global issues and opportunities in real-life contexts. We ensure that our learning environments are rich and stimulating. Our school provides experienced and passionate teachers to support learning experiences in the classroom.

The PYP aims the student’s development as a whole individual, ensuring both the student’s well being and growth in mind. In PGK, play is the primary driver for inquiry. Play involves choice, promotes agency and provides opportunities to inquire into important concepts and personal interests.

PGK Programs focus on the 6 children’s developmental aspects, developing the student’s moral and religious value, motoric, cognitive, language, social emotional, and also arts. Students experience the learning through the play-based inquiry with 10 key learning area, which are science, social studies, religion, physical education, language, bahasa Indonesia, mathematics, music, visual arts, and practical life.

PGK standards and expectations are designed to ensure the students to achieve their best potential both academically and socially. The curriculum gives opportunities for students to exercise their student’s agency by expressing their voice, learning to make a choice and develop their ownership towards their learning through varied activities, such as pretend play, expert sharing session, field trip, class discussion, differentiation, and play-based learning activities. Students will also take part in some competitions to build their confidence and sense of sportsmanship.

Our school as SPK school supports the students to develop their international mindedness with respect towards national culture and identity. We create some events to build awareness that we are part of global community through United Nations Day and Global School Playday. In a way to build the national culture and identity, we set a weekly program, Aku Cinta Indonesia, where students will explore more about Indonesia on the particular day.

The combination of the IB curriculum and national curriculum that we use accommodates the Vision and Mission of our school.

Building a strong character is one of the goals of our Vision and Mission. We use a student centered approach to learning in all levels. Individual or group projects, experiments, show and tells, presentations and exhibitions are all part of the assessment and classroom activities.

Essentially the students are engaged and participate in the all classroom activities. Those activities are also their way of self-evaluating their learning outcomes, their attitudes and behaviors which not only develop their cognitive abilities but also develop every students’ character.

Constructing a creative and fun learning process is our ultimate goal to provide an effective and conducive learning experience.

Every year SBR always sends PG-K students to join the competitions held by PG-K in Bogor and surrounding areas to help them channel their interests and talents in competitions and performances. The achievement that has been won by the students from PG-K are:
