Through its inquiry-based learning and play-based approaches, the PYP challenges students to think for themselves and take responsibility for their learning as they explore local and global issues and opportunities in real-life contexts. We ensure that our learning environments are rich and stimulating. Our school provides experienced and passionate teachers to support learning experiences in the classroom.
The PYP aims the student’s development as a whole individual, ensuring both the student’s well being and growth in mind. In PGK, play is the primary driver for inquiry. Play involves choice, promotes agency and provides opportunities to inquire into important concepts and personal interests.
PGK Programs focus on the 6 children’s developmental aspects, developing the student’s moral and religious value, motoric, cognitive, language, social emotional, and also arts. Students experience the learning through the play-based inquiry with 10 key learning area, which are science, social studies, religion, physical education, language, bahasa Indonesia, mathematics, music, visual arts, and practical life.
PGK standards and expectations are designed to ensure the students to achieve their best potential both academically and socially. The curriculum gives opportunities for students to exercise their student’s agency by expressing their voice, learning to make a choice and develop their ownership towards their learning through varied activities, such as pretend play, expert sharing session, field trip, class discussion, differentiation, and play-based learning activities. Students will also take part in some competitions to build their confidence and sense of sportsmanship.
Our school as SPK school supports the students to develop their international mindedness with respect towards national culture and identity. We create some events to build awareness that we are part of global community through United Nations Day and Global School Playday. In a way to build the national culture and identity, we set a weekly program, Aku Cinta Indonesia, where students will explore more about Indonesia on the particular day.
